Question by Anonymous: Does asme code permits spiral pipe for pressure vessel design?
I am currently bidding for a tender & i come across spiral pipe design. My concern is whether the asme code permits the pressure vessel is to be designed using spiral pipes (where the long seams are welded diagonally). Any source where I am able to find info about it? Thanks in advance!

I do not believe spiral welded pipe is addressed specifically by the Code but only a careful review of the Code will answer that question. I am surprised that you would be bidding on fabricating a pressure vessel and not know the Code requirements.
My first concern is the material for the spiral pipe. Much of it is relatively low grade material and may not meet the Code material requirements.
If you are fabricating and stamping ASME Code vessels then you must have access to a Code inspector. That person should know the anwer to your question if you don’t.
