Question by TL: Ultrasonic welder-Branson, how does it knows which area to weld?
Hi, I need help from an expert on Ultrasonic welder. If I use the equipment to sonic weld a plastic case (top to bottom) and I have plastic components inside the case, will those components inside the case be subjected to physical changes also? i.e they too will be heated and stick together? or will the sonic welder only heat the edges of the case where it needs to joined? I did not see this anywhere on the instruction manual of the equipment.
Thanks

from what i recall the machine holds 1 part and the other is held in a fixture and the relative highspeed vibrational motion is what causes the friction and the heat and weld. I think if your assembly is holding the part SECURLY then there is little risk of damage to other components. The inertia of the welded part should protect the rest.
